While we are not able to offer the deep discounts on books that some super chain stores and on-line sellers offer (as a way to pull you in to sell non-books, or give their advertisers a chance to make their pitch for electric toothbrushes or the some electronic gadget), we offer you the following relief from the constant pressure on your wallet:

Frequent Buyer Program:

We invite all our customers to join our FREE Frequent Buyer's Club! The way this program works:  For every ten non-discounted books you purchase, you'll receive an award for 10% back of the cost of the last ten books you purchased. So what's the best part, aside from it being a free program? You do not need to carry a card-- it just goes under your name (or any alias you'd prefer to be known by, Mr. or Ms. Super Book Freak)!!

Coupons:

We send out a number of coupons via e-mail, so be sure to sign-up to receive our e-mailings. Your can easily do this here our our website (on the homepage) or you can come into the store and sign-up in person. Trust us, you're not going to get your email in-box flooded with a bazillion emails. We send periodic emails with coupons, highlights of new releases, holiday shopping, and special store hours announcements. You can easily unsubscribe by clicking at the bottom of any email we send, and we will NEVER, and we mean never in a million years share, sell, or loan your information to anyone. Because, seriously, that's just plain rude.

Hardcover Fiction Discount:

For the forseeable future all hardcover adult fiction is discounted 25%. So this means you'll instantly save 25% on all hardcover books from Literature / Fiction, Mysteries, and Science Fiction. (These particular discounted books will not apply towards your frequent buyer program.)

Value Books and Markdowns:

We stock many value books which we have scattered throughout the store. They are discernible by the sale sticker on the cover. These books generally are publisher overstocks, many of whch have been published recent years. We also have books on the top and basement floors which are in-store markdowns.

Friends of the Library:

Those with current San Francisco Friends of the Library Memberhip Cards receive a 10% disount our your purchase.
